1、 Small machinery

Small machinery can be rotated by hand to confirm smooth rotation. The inspection items include poor operation caused by foreign objects, scars, and indentations, uneven rotational torque caused by poor installation and machining of the installation seat, large torque caused by small clearance, installation errors, sealing friction, and so on. If there are no abnormalities, power operation can begin.

2、 Large machinery

Due to the inability of large machinery to rotate manually, the power should be immediately turned off after starting without load, and inertia operation should be carried out to check for any vibration, noise, contact with rotating components, etc. After confirming that there are no abnormalities, power operation should be carried out.

Power operation starts at low speed without load and gradually increases to the rated operation under the specified conditions. The inspection items during the trial operation include whether there are any abnormal sounds, temperature transfer of the self-aligning roller bearing, lubricant leakage and discoloration, etc. If any abnormalities are found during the trial operation, the operation should be immediately stopped and the machinery should be inspected. If necessary, the self-aligning roller bearing should be removed for inspection.

The temperature inspection of self-aligning roller bearings is generally inferred from the outer surface of the casing. But using oil holes to directly measure the temperature of the outer ring of the self-aligning roller bearing is more accurate. The temperature of the self-aligning roller bearing gradually rises during operation, and if there are no abnormalities, it usually stabilizes after 1-2 hours. If the temperature of the self-aligning roller bearing rises sharply due to poor installation or other reasons, abnormal high temperatures may occur. The reasons include excessive lubricant, small clearance of self-aligning roller bearings, poor installation, and excessive friction of sealing devices. In situations of high-speed rotation, incorrect selection of lubrication methods for self-aligning roller bearings is also a contributing factor.
