3How to determine the cause of bearing failure and damage?

Bearing is an indispensable part of some Machine element and also plays a very important role. Bearing is widely used in real industry and is called "the joint of machine". It is also an important transmission part necessary for machines that need to bear axial force, radial force and overturning torque at the same time. Based on the damage situation of the bearing, the main reasons for determining the fault and damage of the bearing are as follows:

1. Metal peeling on the surface of the raceway

The rolling element of the bearing and the inner and outer race surfaces are subjected to periodic pulsating loads, resulting in periodic contact stresses. When the number of stress cycles reaches a certain value, fatigue peeling occurs on the working surface of the rolling element or inner and outer ring raceways. If the load on the bearing is too large, it will exacerbate this fatigue. In addition, improper installation of bearings and bending of shafts can also cause peeling of the raceway. The fatigue peeling of the bearing raceway can reduce the operating accuracy of the shaft, causing vibration and noise in the mechanism.

2. Bearing burns

Burned bearings have a backfire color on their raceways and rolling bodies. The causes of burns are generally insufficient lubrication, unsatisfactory or deteriorated lubricating oil quality, and tight bearing assembly.

3. Plastic deformation

Uneven pits appear on the contact surface between the raceway and roller of the bearing, indicating plastic deformation of the bearing. The reason is that under significant static or impact loads, the local stress on the working surface of the bearing exceeds the yield limit of the material, which generally occurs on bearings that rotate at low speeds.

4. Cracks in the bearing race

The causes of cracks in the bearing race may be due to tight bearing fit, looseness of the outer or inner ring of the bearing, deformation of the bearing envelope, and poor surface machining of the installed bearing.

5. Cage broken

The reason is insufficient lubrication, broken rolling elements, and skewed seat rings. The possible reason for the metal adhesion of the cage to the rolling element may be due to the rolling being stuck in the cage or insufficient lubrication. Severe wear on the raceway of the seat ring may be due to foreign objects falling into the seat ring, insufficient lubricating oil, or improper lubricating oil grade.


4What is the symptom of compressor bearing failure?

The manifestation of compressor bearing damage is the rustling sound produced when the engine belt pulley drives the air conditioning compressor belt pulley to rotate without turning on the air conditioning switch. When the electromagnetic clutch of the air conditioning switch is turned on, the sound disappears.

The louder the sound emitted by the bearing, the more severe the damage. If it is very loud, there are only two solutions. One is to replace it with a new one; Another solution is to remove the air conditioning belt and not use it temporarily, as removing the air conditioning belt will not affect other uses; Otherwise, once the bearing locks, it will damage the belt or other components.
