Ferrotitanium

A ferroalloy consisting mainly of titanium and iron. It also contains impurities such as aluminum, silicon, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus and manganese. It is used as deoxidizer, desulfurizer, degasser and alloying agent for steelmaking. There are mainly three varieties according to titanium content: FeTi30, FeTi40 and FeTi70. In addition, there are many titanium containing composite alloys such as Ti Si Fe, Ti-B-Al-V, Ti-B-Al-Cr, Ti Al, Ni Ti Al, Ti-B-Al, Ti Cr Al, etc., which are used as titanium additives.

Main purpose

Ferrotitanium is a kind of special alloy with a wide range of uses. It is added to steel as an alloy element in the steelmaking process to refine the grain structure, fix the interstitial elements (C, N), and improve the strength of steel. When smelting stainless steel and heat-resistant steel, titanium and carbon combine to form stable compounds, which can prevent the formation of chromium carbide, thus reducing intergranular corrosion and improving the welding performance of chromium nickel stainless steel. The products deoxidized by titanium are easy to float. The deoxidized by titanium for killed steel can reduce the upper segregation of ingot, thus improving the quality of ingot and increasing the yield of ingot. Titanium combines with nitrogen dissolved in molten steel to form a stable titanium nitride insoluble in molten steel. High titanium iron is also an indispensable alloy material for smelting iron base superalloy and high-quality stainless steel.
